FLYING FOLKLORE
Training and Hunting with Birds of Prey
Modern Day Falconry around the world.
There are many organizations, clubs, and events all around the world centered around the sport and people interested in it. People of all ages, genders, and cultures share the same experiences through mastering the art of falconry. From a young age, one learns to raise, train, and connect to their bird through hunting and excursions. Developing a significant connection is important as birds of prey will never be tamed, and can choose to return to their handler or not.
Falconry requires proper licensing, training, caretaking, and has high regulations regarding animal welfare. From a young age, older falconers pass their skills on to younger generations and years of training is required in order to properly handle a bird of prey. Anyone can learn to be a falconer, although it takes skill, dedication, and hard work to be able to place ones bird into flight. Different Organizations put on falconry festivals and competitions to celebrate and showcase the sport and its members.
